Eurekaseekers Science Workshop in Primary Four
During our Eurekaseekers science workshop, we explored the effects of natural disasters on humankind. The children created an IODINE CLOCK experiment, a dramatic colour changing reaction, which reflects power outages endured through times of environmental hardship, forcing human displacement.
We then explored the theme of acid rain, the destruction of which could be seen by mixing a strong acid and alkaline in a vacuum sealed bag, which caused a highly dramatic reaction.
Finally, the children explored another climate related disaster in volcanoes. With Chris, they created a giant elephant's toothpaste, and discussed the refugee crisis a volcano could implicate.
Those brave enough got to try out the taste of 'citric acid'. If you see them about ask them what they thought of it.
